On July 2, 2015, the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg hosted its annual Independence Day reception celebrating 239 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The theme of this year’s reception was “American Music Through the Ages” and featured posters and images of well-known American musicians as well as a live band performing a medley of some of the greatest American hits. In attendance were Luxembourg government officials, ambassadors including those from England, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Finland, as well as representatives from government departments, trade associations, and businesses in Luxembourg. After the presenting of the colors by the Embassy’s detachment of U.S. Marines, Chargé d’Affaires, Alison Shorter-Lawrence, addressed the crowd and touched upon the American melting-pot heritage and the evidence of that heritage in our music. Throughout the reception, American finger foods, drinks, and frozen treats were served.
