The U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for the 2023-2024 Dean Acheson Legal Stage (traineeship/internship) Program in Luxembourg at the Court of Justice of the European Union. Candidates from eligible U.S. law schools who have completed three years of studies, have a strong knowledge of European Community Law and a good knowledge of French, are encouraged to apply through their law school to this program.

The Dean Acheson Legal Stage Program promotes mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and the European Union in the context of the legal profession. The program is open to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents only. The program offers graduates of top American law schools the opportunity to intern for a Judge at the Court of Justice, with an Advocate General of the Court of Justice, or with a Judge of the General Court for a period of not more than three months.

This is a prestigious and competitive clerkship that deepens mutual understanding of the legal frameworks in the EU and United States while providing the unique opportunity to live in Luxembourg and work in an EU institution.

Eligible law schools’ administrators must submit via e-mail a maximum of three endorsed applications to the Public Affairs section of the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg by March 31, 2023. This is an unpaid internship, and no U.S. Government funds are available to assist applicants chosen for Dean Acheson Legal stage program.

You can find the program’s full information and the list with eligible law schools on this Flyer –> Dean Acheson Stage – Flyer 2023-24
