The Consular section is primarily responsible for the welfare of American citizens either resident or temporarily present in Luxembourg. The Embassy’s consular section provides routine American citizen services, such as passport issuances or renewals, registrations of births of American citizens in Luxembourg, notary services, as well as the dissemination of information of general interest to the American citizen community. The consular section is also responsible for the adjudication of nonimmigrant visa applications from Luxembourg citizens or third country nationals resident in Luxembourg.

The Office of Public Affairs is responsible for press and public diplomacy activities of the U.S. Embassy Luxembourg. Under the direction of the Public Affairs Officer, these activities include responding to media inquiries, conducting and supporting cultural programs, and administering educational exchanges. The Office of Public Affairs also provides public affairs guidance and support to the U.S. Ambassador and other Embassy officials. Our speaker’s bureau will provide Embassy officials to speak on a variety of topics. We can also provide financial support to cultural programs and other initiatives as well as assist with bilateral exchanges for journalists, artists, and other professionals.

The Economic Affairs section promotes trade and commerce between the United States and Luxembourg by supporting American enterprises in Luxembourg or those considering moving to the Grand Duchy and also by supporting investment in the United States by Luxembourg firms and individuals. The Economic Affairs section is also responsible for reporting on local economic issues to the Department of State.

The Political Affairs section is responsible for official United States government communication with the government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. In addition to reporting to the State Department about Luxembourg and some EU affairs, the Political Affairs section supports the Ambassador in his capacity as the President’s representative in Luxembourg.
