When the former Ambassador left Luxembourg, with him went all of the art that he had painted as well as the official American art collection which used to hang in the Chief of Mission residence. Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Ms. Alsion Shorter-Lawrence decided to have some beautiful art on display in the interim. In her welcoming remarks, Ms. Shorter-Lawrence quoted one of America’s greatest female artists, Georgia O’Keefe:”I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for.” and “To create one’s world in any of the arts takes courage.”
