June 23, 2020

Today, 23 June marks Luxembourg National Day. President Donald Trump, and Ambassador J. Randolph Evans offer their sentiments below:

Statement from President Donald J. Trump:

Your Royal Highness:

On behalf of the American people, please accept my warmest wishes to you and all citizens of the Grand Duchy as you celebrate your National Day on June 23.

As our nations recover from the global COVID-19 pandemic, the United States is grateful to have Luxembourg as a friend and ally.  Our shared sacrifices, forged in the forests of Luxembourg during the Second World War, laid the groundwork for our longstanding cooperation.

The United States looks forward to continuing our work with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to explore new horizons as we open another new chapter in space exploration.  Your contributions to space technology are indicative of the innovative spirit of the people of Luxembourg.

I wish you and all the people of Luxembourg a healthy and joyous National Day.

Sincerely,

Donald J. Trump

Statement from Ambassador J. Randolph Evans:

Your Royal Highness:

On behalf of the American people, our Embassy is honored to celebrate Luxembourg National Day and your birthday with the citizens of the Grand Duchy.

In my two years as the United States Ambassador to Luxembourg, it has been an honor to work with you, your government, and the people of Luxembourg to bring our nations together and make progress across many areas of mutual interest in the face of unique challenges.

Your personal support and that of HRH Grand Duchess Maria Teresa to those that fought on the frontlines of the COVID crisis offered great comfort and encouragement to the Grand Duchy including our community of Americans and the broader public.

On this momentous day, Luxembourg National Day, our Embassy remembers how much Luxembourg has accomplished and overcame to become what it is today. On this important occasion, I wish you and the people of Luxembourg a great National Day and look forward to our nations continuing to work to better the world around us and beyond.

Sincerely,
J. Randolph Evans
